That way you have a straight feed magazine into a formerly rotary mag slot. The rotary magazine will be the only thing to hold you back although I have seen folks take a generic ten round magazine just for its ability to fit into the gun and then cut it apart to allow the fitment of a pistol 22 LR magazine into it. Worked like a champ and all that was heard was the metal contact of the bolt and the receiver, and this was without a silencer. 24'-28' mainly bolt actions since I've never seen a semi with those lengths. Several conclusions are: 1) Use a longer barrel. ![]() There's been several conversations on shooting quietly without a suppressor. As it turned out all I needed to do was to cut down on the recoil springs and put in a spacer block in the back half of my magazine for my MK II Ruger pistol. The 10/22 will still be quiet but nothing like a suppressed bolt action. So now I had a round it was time to get the gun to function with it. Odds are that there gas been at least one occasion when you wished your shotgun report was quieter and less obnoxious. The overall length almost approached that of the 22LR and was certainly longer than the 22 short. We developed our subsonic lead solid point for a quieter report while delivering affordable performance. Same power as its namesake, but in a longer case. So the CB's were a little bit longer and easy to single load, but still needed some help. Half of the time even hand loading the gun I'd end up with the round 180 degrees backwards. Even though the BB's were quieter, they were not in a functional case at all. ![]() From the targets perspective - there is absolutely no report from the weapon and the bullet impacts loud pops' or cracks'. In my experimenting I found I liked the sound report of the CB's. Answer (1 of 5): Depends on who's perspective you're asking from. The thing is to find a round that you like and then tailor your gun to function with those rounds. The majority come into a distance of 50-100 yards, so trajectory becomes. Second, the trajectory on a subsonic round is greatly inferior to one of supersonic speeds. Been there and done it including CB's and BB's and other "quiet" 22 rounds. CB long and shorts ( CCI ) have the same ballistic properties, but longs will probably shoot more accurately from a LR chamber. One, a bullet traveling under the speed of sound loses a lot of kinetic energy, which decreases the chance of putting the coyote on the ground effectively.
